![]() MDFCs: I do not know how many MDFC creature/lands would be best for this deck, I am liking the current 22 land / 2 MDFC split, but it has some wiggle room. That said, I am thinking of trimming down to 3, since I draw a lot of cards and never need more than 2 witnesses really. If I have a witness in hand early, I shoot off my ephemerates at the first decent chance for value, because when witness resolves, it picks it back up for you anyway. I usually hit my first 5-7 land drops, because of all the drawing and scrying, which makes witness + ephemerate a reliable turn 5-6 play. In historic, I find I have a lot more time to deploy expensive threats, so the 4th mana requirement is not a big deal. Timeless Witness: For anyone who has ever played an ephemerate deck in Modern, timeless witness is almost better than the OG eternal witness, despite costing more mana.Fabled passage is a bit rough because it doesn't come in untapped until turn 4, but I wanted at least a few lands to have as targets for witness. I have tried with all manners of pathways and shocks and duals, and have found that I consistently am wanting to play 2 green/white lands in the first 3-4 turns. Other than Barin, soulherder and mulldrifter are the only real blue cards (glasspool can be a land if I can't cast), so 1 blue source is all I need in the early games. ![]() The general idea is that I need green/white mana primarily, as well as 1 blue source in the early game, and a 2nd blue source later for Barrin.
